i would probably tell him to take better care of those Armoured Angel demo cassettes. or at least ‘store’ them somewhere more obvious, ‘cause 21 years and several houses later i got no idea where those fucken things are…

Did you have an idol growing up? Do you idolize anyone now? Who?
I could name a few people I guess who have inspired me over the years (many of whom I’ve been privileged to meet actually, but they’re prob’ly different stories for different questions) but Henry Rollins is an enduring hero of mine, since I was quite young and still through to today. The irony being that he would hate the idea of anyone idolising him, but that’s part of what I love about him.

The NME now give out awards for best re-issue or boxed set retrospectives. Are we at a point where pop and rock music cannot move forward? That the era of “primary” (originally composed) music production is now over?
no, i think original music is still highly regarded. popular music is in a weird place at the moment, and to put a positive spin on it, it’s good to see people taking an interest in music of the ‘past’ (whatever that is). handing out these sorts of awards is kinda weird, but then again there are some great rereleases getting around that are noteworthy.
a good analogy is hollywood, i suppose, and its current obsession with remakes and reboots. hopefully they’ll get over it soon, but amongst the tripe there’s the occasional worthy homage to something gone by. for the record, george lucas does not fit into that category. -

i dunno, probably silence? you’d need to steal my ipod as well to actually be listening to something. and then i’d have to beat your thieving face in. MTV are stealing people’s headphones now? times really are tough…
